Saratoga County is located in eastern New York State directly north of Albany. The county encompasses an area of 844 square miles, with a population of approximately 230,000.  The name comes from the Iroquois word meaning “the hill beside the river”. The river refers to the Hudson River to the east, and the Mohawk River to the south.

Grant Cottage National Historic Landmark.
