Richmond County is located at the southernmost section of New York State. Richmond County has a land area of 58.5 square miles with a population of approximately 475,000.  

Richmond County was one of the 12 original counties of New York. Originally inhabited by the Lenape Indians, the area was settled by the Dutch in the 17^th century.
