Also known as Brooklyn, Kings County is located in western Long Island between Queens County to the east, and Manhattan to the west. It is the most populated of the five boroughs of New York City and the second most densely populated county in the United States with a population of approximately 2.59 million. The county occupies an area of 97 square miles however 26 square miles is under water. The name Kings County was chosen in honor of King Charles II of England. Likewise,  Queens County is generally believed to have been named in honor of his wife, Catherine of Braganza. Due to its diversity, Brooklyn is known for its wide variety of ethnic restaurants located throughout the borough.
