Steuben County is located in the southwest part of New York State. Named in honor of Baron Von Steuben, a Prussian general who fought on the side of America during the American Revolution. Steuben County is bordered by Allegany County to the west, Chemung County and Schuyler County to the east, Ontario County to the north, Livingston County to the northwest, Yates County to the northeast, and Pennsylvania to the south. Steuben County occupies a total area of 1404 square miles with a population of approximately 100,000. 

Steuben County is home to Corning Inc, formerly Corning Glass Works, which employs 34,000 people worldwide. Local attractions include the Corning Museum of Glass, the Rockwell Museum, The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, Stony Brook State Park, the Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery and numerous wineries located throughout the county.
