Seneca County is located in the central portion of New York State. Named after the Seneca Indian tribe, Seneca County is situated in the Finger Lakes region of New York State between Cayuga Lake to the east and Seneca Lake to the west, the latter being the largest and deepest of the Finger Lakes Cayuga Lake to the east and Seneca Lake to the west, the latter the largest and deepest of the Finger Lakes. Seneca County is bordered by Yates County and Ontario County to the west, Cayuga County to the east, Ontario County to the north, Tompkins County to the southeast, Schuyler County to the south, and Wayne County to the north. Steuben County occupies a total area of 390 square miles with a population of approximately 35,000. 

Seneca County is home to Seneca Museum of Waterways and Industry, the Woman’s Rights Historic Park, and many Seneca Lake wineries.
