Orleans County Real Estate Closing Lawyers
About Orleans County, New York:
Orleans County is located in western New York State on Lake Ontario. Orleans County was founded in 1824. The county was named Orleans at the insistence of Nehemiah Ingersoll, a prominent local businessman who was active in local affairs and maintained a deep interest in the well being of the community. Ironically, historians do not know exactly why he chose the name Orleans. One theory is that it was named after the French Royal House of Orleans. Another theory is that it was named in honor of Andrew Jackson’s victory in New Orleans. While the County covers an area of 817 square miles, 426 square miles of the county (more than half) is under water. This is due to the county line extending north into Lake Ontario.
Orleans County has a population of approximately 40,350. The county seat is Albion.
Popular attractions include the Medina Railroad Museum, Lakeside Beach State Park, Leonard Oakes Estate Winery, Holley Canal Falls, and Oak Orchard Creek.
The median house sale price in Orleans County in 2020 was $ $122,936.
