Livingston County is located in western New York State in the Finger Lakes Region. The county was named in honor of Robert R. Livingston, who helped draft the declaration of Independence and negotiated the Louisiana purchase. Livingston County was established in 1821 with land sectioned from Ontario and Genesee Counties. Livingston County has a population of approximately 63,000. The County occupies a total of 640 square miles. It is bordered by Monroe County, Ontario County, Steuben County, Allegany County, Wyoming County, and Genesee County.
